From Survival to Stability. From Isolation to Community.

House Of Rebirth is a transgender-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization advancing health equity, housing stability, advocacy, and culturally grounded support for transgender and gender-diverse communities across Texas.

Our Story

House of Rebirth was founded in 2019 during a time when many individuals and families across Dallas were facing barriers to safety, stability, housing, and access to support.

Following the public attack and murder of Muhlaysia Booker, our community was left grieving, searching for answers, and seeking spaces where people could feel seen, valued, and protected. It became clear that more than visibility was needed. People needed access to resources, trusted support systems, and leaders with lived experience who understood the realities of navigating trauma, survival, and systemic barriers.

That reality led to the creation of House of Rebirth.

In October 2019, House of Rebirth launched its first transitional housing program with a mission centered on safety, dignity, healing, and long-term stability. What began as an emergency response quickly evolved into a trusted community resource rooted in advocacy, empowerment, and culturally responsive care.

Today, House of Rebirth serves as a community-led resource hub providing housing navigation, advocacy, resource connection, emergency support services, leadership development, and community programming designed to improve quality of life and increase access to opportunity.

While our roots are deeply connected to supporting historically underserved communities, our work has grown to serve individuals and families seeking pathways to safety, stability, and self-determination. Through strategic partnerships, direct support, and community-driven solutions, we remain committed to helping people overcome barriers and build brighter futures.

Everything we do is built by community, for community. 💜

Leadership

Founder & Executive Director

Robyn "Pocahontas" Crowe is a community leader, advocate, and founder of House of Rebirth. Since 2011, she has dedicated her life to supporting individuals and families facing barriers to housing, healthcare, economic stability, and access to resources.

What began as helping people navigate immediate needs has grown into a trusted community resource where individuals can find support, connection, guidance, and opportunities for growth. Robyn's work is rooted in lived experience, giving her a unique understanding of the challenges many people face when navigating systems that were not designed with them in mind.

Robyn brings extensive experience in HIV prevention, health education, community engagement, and peer support. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside individuals seeking access to healthcare, prevention services, housing resources, and wellness support, helping connect people to the tools and information they need to thrive.

Through House of Rebirth, she leads efforts focused on housing navigation, resource coordination, advocacy, leadership development, and community-centered programming. Her work has expanded to support individuals experiencing housing instability, justice involvement, healthcare barriers, aging-related challenges, and other obstacles that impact quality of life and self-sufficiency.

As a Black transgender woman, Robyn's lived experience continues to inform her commitment to advocacy, equity, and creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered. Her leadership has helped shape programs and initiatives that address real community needs while fostering dignity, opportunity, and long-term stability.

Known for meeting people where they are, Robyn believes that everyone deserves access to support, opportunity, and a pathway toward stability. Her leadership is centered on building stronger communities, creating meaningful partnerships, and helping people move from survival to self-determination with dignity and purpose.

We offer career development programs tailored to the needs of trans individuals, providing skills training, mentorship, and job placement assistance to empower our community members.

We stay connected with trans individuals who are incarcerated through letters, advocacy, and support. We make sure they are not forgotten and have someone on the outside helping them navigate their next steps

From Our Community

Real experiences from individuals we’ve supported through our work.

“House of Rebirth didn’t just give me resources, they helped me figure out what my next step actually needed to be.”

“When I first connected with House of Rebirth, I didn’t know where to start. They helped me understand my options, connected me to resources, and stayed consistent through the process. That made all the difference.”
“There’s no place like home, and I didn’t understand that until I walked through the doors of House of Rebirth. That was the first time I felt safe, supported, and like I had a place where I actually belonged"

“Before I connected with House of Rebirth, I didn’t really have family or a support system. I was trying to figure everything out on my own. Being in this space changed that for me. I finally felt like I had people who genuinely cared. The love and support I received, especially from Pocah as a chosen mother, gave me a sense of stability I didn’t have before and changed the way I see myself and my future.”
